Shihab privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026. Publisher: Gamers Academy.
Shihab is a download manager for Windows with a companion browser extension. This policy covers both.
What the extension handles
- Your browser's own download list, so the popup can show your downloads with their progress and let you pause, resume, retry, open or remove them.
- The links on the page you have open, only when you open the "This page" tab or ask to download the links on a page.
- When the Shihab app is installed and you download a file or ask to save a link or a video: the address of the file and of the page it came from, the page title, the cookies the browser holds for that file's website (so downloads that need your login keep working), and the browser's user agent.
Where that goes
- Without the Shihab app, nothing leaves your browser. The popup reads and controls the browser's downloads inside the browser.
- With the Shihab app, the details above go only to the app on your own computer, through the browser's native messaging channel. The app then downloads the file from the website it belongs to, the same way your browser would.
The extension does not send anything to any server of ours or of anyone else. We do not run servers that collect data from it, and there are no analytics, ads or accounts.
What is stored
- The extension stores only your own options (for example which file types to catch) and which tab the popup last showed, in the browser's storage.
- The app stores your download list and settings in %APPDATA%\Downloadit on your computer. You can delete them at any time.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, share or transfer your data. We do not use it for advertising, credit decisions or anything beyond downloading the files you asked for.
